In these unsettling times, it is easy to become stifled by worry. This excerpt from Unity author James Dillet Freeman’s book, Prayer: The Master Key, describes how to calm your mind through prayer.
“God’s good is being expressed in my life. Even if misfortunes occur and I receive a setback or fall ill, I am not going to profit by becoming frightened or depressed.
... It is our imagination that seizes hold of us and carries us down into mind’s dark underworld of fear and anger and depression. So I ask myself of things that pass through my mind:
Has this ever happened?
Is this happening?
Will this happen?
Usually my answer to all three of these questions is no. ... For most of us, the more concrete and exact we make our thought, the easier it is to control it. ... Say the words, ‘I am a child of God.’ ... Know it. Keep knowing it—even when it seems far from the truth, even when it seems impossible to believe. Take your step in faith.”
